Разговорный иностранный - фразы делового английского языка от репетитора из Москвы

Разговорные фразы - business English idioms - идиомы делового английского языка - ворчалки преподавателя МГЛУ из Москвы

Listening to most business people talk English makes me sick. You see, I am an English tutor.

That kind of guys purposely sprinkle their language with fancy catch (каверзные, хитрые) phrases and five dollar words in what I can only assume is an effort to make up (возместить) for years of being picked last in football.
Could you be one of them?

Let’s have a look at some of the most offending English phrases I could ever find:

My two cents - высказаться в споре и т. п.; сказать своё слово; вставить свои пять копеек.
two cents' (worth) - мнение, суждение; совет (особенно, непрошеный)
to put in your two cents worth — высказать своё мнение, когда не спрашивают.

Is that all your advice is worth?
If you don’t think that what you are about to say is worth more than 2 cents, what am I supposed to think of it?
I'ma tell you what: how about keeping your 2 cents and only speaking up when ready with your $2 billion dollar advice?

  1. Let me give you my card

If I wanted your card, I would have asked for it.
Now you’ve not only killed a tree but because I’m going to throw away your card the second you turn around, you’ve now put it on my conscience (совесть).
    How about this.
Make me want to ask you for your card instead.
Try spending more than a few minutes with me.
    Learn who I am.
Tell me something really interesting about yourself.
This is called building a relationship.
